Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard will be releasing an album later this summer, she confirmed today with a new song called "History Repeats."

The track is the first single from the singer's upcoming album Jaime, which will be her debut solo outing. The full record is out Sept. 20 via ATO Records.

According to Howard, the record is named after her sister, who died from cancer when the two were teenagers. "She definitely did shape me as a human being," she said, noting that while the title is a "memoriam" to her sibling, the content of the album is all her.

"I’m pretty candid about myself and who I am and what I believe," she admits. "Which is why I needed to do it on my own."
