How's this to start your November? The boys of Vampire Weekend appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live for the halloween episode. Complete with makeup to celebrate, the band introduced a previously-untitled track now called "Unbelievers." The song appears to be a nod to the Monkees' "I'm A Believer." They also performed "Oxford Comma" off their debut self-titled album from 2008.
Lauryn Hill once again demonstrated her artistry, debuting a new spoken word called "Black Rage." The crowd in Dallas on Tuesday night was delighted to hear the new material, which can be heard below via fan footage. As we previously reported, Hill is currently co-headlining the Life is Good/Black Rage tour with Nas.
This year's Austin City Limits Music Festival proved to be one of the most successful to date. Hosted on the grounds of Zilker Park, the final one-weekend event (2013 will be stretched to two weekends) included a full roster topped by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, The Black Keys, Jack White, Florence + The Machine, The Avett Brothers, AVICII, BASSNECTAR and The Roots.
As you know, we covered the entire event from Friday, Oct. 12, through Sunday, Oct. 14., providing live tweets, interviews and photos all day/night. But here are some of the highlights:
SUNDAY (Day Three)
The final day of ACL kicked of with British indie rockers ∆ (Alt-J) unleashing an energetic set. Our recent FutureSounds pick, they are rising quickly in the U.S., with "Tessellate" being one of their frontrunning tracks. Next, Kimbra performed (her solo set) and drove the enormous crowd wild with her undeniable stage presence. No, seriously, she commands the stage. If we were handing out awards, the flamboyant 22-year-old would get the one for best stage presence. Dressed in a pink pon-pon-like top and similar oversized grass-green skirt, she made certain all eyes were on her from start to finish, delivering a breathtaking performance.

SATURDAY (Day Two)
The day opened with sets from Quiet Company and Caveman, smaller bands who are both gaining momentum as of late. Caveman, specifically, had a busy weekend, performing multiple times that day with appearances at the Xbox Lounge for press later that night. Unfortunately, as Civil Twilight took the stage, looming rain became more certain. Prior to the Festival's start, weather was already a topic of discussion (it rained Thursday night as we were arriving in Austin). But Civil Twilight -- natives of South Africa, who were featured earlier this year in Variance -- played on, and gave Austin a wonderful, lively show. Clouds turned to light rain as Dev opened with her hit "Bass Down Low" before a noticeably younger audience. Despite only casually dubbing vocals over her tracks, she probably had one of the most engaged crowds all weekend. Her energy was certainly not lacking, and at times the audience came close to matching her volume as they knew every lyric to her songs, such as "In The Dark" and Far East Movement's "Like A G6," a song on which she was featured.
Andy Hull (of Manchester Orchestra) and Kevin Devine made a stop at this year's Austin City Limits Music Festival to perform as their new act Bad Books. We caught up with them before their set to discuss their relationship with each other as musicians and friends, and how they came together to form the group. Devine, who has successfully toured solo prior to Bad Books, also revealed the identity of his No. 1 fan.

FRIDAY (Day One)
First up on our schedule were Colorfeels and First Aid Kit -- the Nashville-based indie group and Swedish-born sister duo, respectively. Both groups gave incredible performances before Ben Howard -- who was recently featured as Variance's "Ear Candy" selection -- dominated the Honda stage. We were honestly surprised to see such an enormous crowd absolutely enthralled with the British singer-songwriter, who recently stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform his latest single "Only Love." Grammy-winner Esperanza Spalding followed with that sultry voice. Fans watched as she passionately charmed the audience with soulful lyrics and an incredible talent for maintaining vocals and playing bass simultaneously. It's unreal (see video).
M83 has debuted their latest music video, this time for the track "Steve McQueen" off Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. The video, directed by Balthazar Auxietre and Sylvain Derosne, depicts a series of brilliant scenes within a childhood imagination.
Gentlemen: Is your upper lip looking a little more dainty than you'd like? In honor of what's become known as "Movember," actor Nick Offerman (known to many as Parks and Recreation's Ron Swanson) is giving men some "advice" on growing a healthy moustache, speaking from experience of course.
fun. continues to "Carry On" in their latest music video, this time for the third single off their breakout album Some Nights. The video -- and the song, for that matter -- provide a fitting way to head into the final stretch of what has been a very good year for the trio.
The Gaslight Anthem has debuted a new music video, this one for "Here Comes My Man" off their latest album Handwritten. The clip for this track centers around actress Elisha Cuthbert (Happy Endings, 24) as she struggles with love.
