Rising newcomer shye. is heading into the weekend with a brand new single.

He's just dropped his emotional new track "Wither," a confessional entry about chasing the ghost of a lost love, clinging to memories of a relationship you can't go back and save. And the accompanying video follows that exact narrative.

"This song is about being planted in a place, or a situation, by someone you love," the singer tells Variance of the very personal new cut. "Somewhere you thought you'd grow together, but as time passes and things change, you realize you're stuck in that place to watch that person you love grow and move on, while you stay stagnant and start to wilt. It's about trying to find a way to blossom on your own, when all your plans involved blooming into a life with that person. I wrote it about the only person I've ever loved, to try and cope with losing her."

While shye. showcases a very Bazzi-like flow and delivery on this new track, the emo-pop is very Lauv-esque. Considering the singer has been in the studio writing and recording more new music, it'll be interesting to hear more from him in the coming months.
