Nearly four months after the release of his new album KOD, J. Cole took the stage Thursday night in Miami to kick off his North American tour in support of the record.

While the show was expectedly light on theatrics, the stage was adorned with large LED screens and massive "KOD" letters hanging on both the left and right side. But as with most J. Cole shows, the crowd arguably wasn't there for a huge production, instead packing into the American Airlines Arena to watch the North Carolina rapper deliver an earnest performance.

It also didn't hurt that he came with a great roster of opening acts, with the likes of Young Thug, Jaden Smith (with a cameo from dad Will Smith!) and Earthgang warming up ahead of Cole's set, which started with “Window Pain,” the penultimate track off KOD.

Although most of the focus was on the new record, J. Cole managed to race through a mammoth set list of more than 20 songs, including "A Tale of 2 Citiez," "Deja Vu," "Kevin's Heart," "Neighbors," "Wet Dreamz" "Power Trip" and "No Role Modelz."

The KOD continues next week with stops in Atlanta, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Detroit, Toronto and Chicago all on the upcoming schedule before closing things out in Boston on Oct. 10.
