It's been 71 days since Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 went missing and there's already a film in the works.

Indian director Rupesh Paul is currently at Cannes Film Festival pitching his teaser for The Vanishing Act, which is based largely on a theory—not a surprise—proposed by a Malaysian journalist, who is also said to be one of the film's investors.

Should the project receive enough funding, Paul is aiming for an August release. Of course, he says the "biggest challenge" he's facing is that if he suggests one theory in his film and "suddenly the flight is found and it’s totally the opposite, your investment will be wasted. We will be fools."

Despite the teaser's inclusion of firearms on the plane, Paul says the film's ending doesn’t involve guns or aliens, two theories previously floated by CNN. And as of yet, the cable news channel—which has been criticized for its lengthy coverage of the missing plane—is not involved in Paul's project.
