After sharing his gripping new single "Unknown (To You)" last month, fast-rising singer Jacob Banks has released a powerful set of visuals for the track.

The new clip, co-directed by Banks alongside FRMWRKLDN, follows a fragile father-son relationship between two people struggling to express their love for each other, perhaps constricted by cultural norms of masculinity.

"It can be difficult for men to express their emotions and convey affection, but no one ever talks about it," Banks says of the video. "It's a masculinity thing but also a cultural thing, and I think many—especially those who grew up in immigrant households—will relate to the dynamic between the father and son in the video. My dad is an immigrant, and even though he is present in my everyday life and I know he cares about me, it's hard for him to show his love as a parent."

As we previously mentioned, "Unknown (To You)" is the first single from Jacob Banks' upcoming debut album, The Village, which is expected early next year via Darkroom/Interscope Records.

Banks plays Austin City Limits Music Festival this weekend before heading out on his headlining tour in North America and the U.K.
