The first full trailer for the upcoming film, Dear White People, has now arrived.

Like the previously released teaser, the new clip offers equal doses of humor, but it also provides more context for the film, which is set at Winchester University. It is centered around a biracial campus DJ (played by Tessa Thompson) and the fallout after a group of white students throw an "African-American themed" party.

The film, which originally premiered in January at Sundance Film Festival and takes a satirical look at how black and white people interact, will release in theaters on Oct. 17.

Seen below, the trailer features the song "Sleeping at Night" by Caught a Ghost, one of Variance's 2014 FutureSounds. Coincidentally, Thompson is actually part of the band.
