Following the release last month of her sophomore album Melodrama, Lorde stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday to chat and perform her single "Perfect Places."
She first talked about spending nearly two years in the studio with "work husband" Jack Antonoff and also recalled seeing Meyers backstage at a Kanye West fashion show, where both she and the comedian felt out of place because of all the "fancy" shindigs, where Drake was also in attendance.
Before taking the mic, Lorde also discussed a time when she got stuck on the New York subway for four hours. Somehow upbeat about her subway experiences, the singer admitted she usually enjoys taking it. But that time, her main concern was an "oatmeal sachet" she was carrying, which might have become a priceless commodity had she and the other commuters remained stranded any longer.
Later in the show, Lorde performed "Perfect Places," joined by a backing choir all wearing Melodrama-branded tracksuits.
