Chris Pratt and Ariana Grande, among others, helped kick off the 40th season of Saturday Night Live.

It was the first episode without longtime announcer Don Pardo (SNL vet Darrell Hammond debuted as his replacement) and Nasim Pedrad, who has departed for Fox's Mulaney.

Additionally, new "Weekend Update" co-anchor Michael Che and featured player Pete Davidson also made their first appearances on the sketch comedy series.

Pratt's wife Anna Faris made a cameo during the opening monologue, while The Weeknd performed "Love Me Harder" alongside Grande, who first performed her latest single "Break Free."
