Just moments before Hillary Clinton formally accepts the Democratic nomination for President on Thursday night, Katy Perry took the stage to perform.
Before singing, Perry noted that she was raised by parents who are both pastors and Republicans and seemed to encourage younger voters to use their own voices to cancel out some of their family members or loved ones who might vote for Donald Trump, without mentioning the reality television star and Republican nominee by name.
Perry performed her new single "Rise," marking her first live performance of the song, which will also be used heavily in NBC's promotion campaign for the Summer Olympics next month. She closed with her song "Roar."
