Sigur Rós last week revealed plans to unveil a whole lot of newness this year, and this week the Icelandic outfit has begun rolling out some of the new material they promised. Kicking off their European tour, the trio (albeit looking a little different than before) introduced new songs “Kveikur,” “Yfirborð” and “Hrafntinna.”

In a letter to fans, they discussed a "new show looking to eclipse the band’s previous high-water marks of live presentation" and "new visuals, new lights and new stage set, and not forgetting a new player (welcome ingrid on viola). Plus, of course, the new songs." They advised, however, that "coming to a show is the only way you’re going to experience this stuff outside crappy youtube clips in the coming months."

A new album is expected sometime later this year.
