Amyl and the Sniffers performing at Salt Shed in Chicago, photo by Josh Darr

Riding the wave from the release of their third album, Cartoon Darkness, late last year Australian pub rock band, Amyl and the Sniffers made their return to both Chicago and Salt Shed for a sold-out evening. Utilizing their platform, the band chose to address the current world affairs and political climate on their newest album in contrast to the band’s explanation behind their name, "In Australia, we call poppers Amyl. So you sniff it, it lasts for 30 seconds and then you have a headache – and that's what we're like!"

Similarly, that subject matter can easily leave you with a headache after 30 seconds of discussion. What’s great about their performances, however, is all of that is completely out the window and both the crowd and band seemingly fed off each others energy keeping us in a loop of 30 second goodness ignoring the headache certain to come later in the evening.
