After a lengthy hiatus caused by problems with his vocal chords and two subsequent throat surgeries, John Mayer has confirmed plans to hit the road again, in support of 2012's Born and Raised. It will be his first tour in three years, after canceling dozens of dates last year due to his health.
Mayer will visit over 40 cities in four countries during his trek, which includes dates at Colorado's famed Red Rocks and a festival stop at Rock in Rio in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
American Idol winner Phillip Phillips will open for the singer on nearly all the dates.
"The greatest gift I have in my life is the opportunity to play again, which is also the opportunity to dream again," Mayer told Billboard this week. "My dreams were in escrow, but when I found out this thing in my throat had receded, the most exciting thing for me was having a second chance at a new life. My dreams have come true twice. That's really cool."
Mayer performed back in January for the first time in two years at a benefit for firefighters in Montana.
