Anthony Russo in 'Optimist' video

Anthony Russo released a new song called "Optimist" on Friday, and the stirring new track is an ode for those who feel like they don't belong.

The gleaming new cut is accompanied by a video directed by Abir Hashem, starring Destiny Hernandez and Joe Corzo as what appears to be father and daughter, with the latter returning home to find the former passed out drunk. After cleaning up her father's mess and washing a sink full of dishes, she is seen turning to her true passion of art. But the moment of bliss is short-lived.

"Take it in before everything changes," Russo sings, before later declaring: "They don't understand what it feels like / To be here but not at home / You don't feel like you belong / I swear you're not alone."

The new song follows Russo's February release "LMK," which came with a subtle tease that it was the "first of many I will be dropping this year. 2022 bout to be different."
