Fans of Wallows got an early weekend gift today, as the band dropped their new single "Especially You."

The addictive new track is Wallows at their absolute best, a playful earworm with a humorous accompanying video, directed by Jason Lester. The song comes with news of the band's sophomore album Tell Me That It's Over, which they confirmed today will be released March 25.

“It’s about when you’re in the early stages of a relationship and you get so worried that the other person’s mind will change at the flip of a switch," says the band's Dylan Minnette. "It’s about stressing over the smallest things for no reason, but it’s definitely self-aware about the fact that I’m doing this all to myself.”

"Especially" is the latest of Wallows' collaborations with Vampire Weekend and HAIM collaborator Ariel Rechtshaid, who co-produced their 2021 song "Nobody Gets Me (Like You)" and also produced the upcoming record.

The new music comes at the start of what is sure to be a big year for Wallows, who previously announced a 2022 North American tour and today extended the trek into early next year with shows in the U.K., Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Those shows are in addition festival spots at big events like Coachella and Bonnaroo, with a nice opening during Lollapalooza, the latter of which usually doesn't announce its lineup until late March.
