Bruce Willis helmed the third new episode of Saturday Night Live's 39th season and, along with some misses, there were some hits.
The latest installment once again pushed sophomore player Cecily Strong and Taran Killam into further visibility, while newcomers Beck Bennett and Brooks Wheelan seem to inching their way more into the spotlight. Overall, it was a fairly solid episode, thanks to host Willis' flexibility as a team player, really getting into character in each of his sketches, including one that saw him sporting an animal costume.
Music took center stage this week, with Katy Perry performing her No. 1 single "Roar," as well as offering her televised debut of "Walking on Air," a Eurodance-infused confection that showcases the wide range of her forthcoming album, PRISM. Meanwhile, Willis led some of the core male players in a new digital clip (has SNL abandoned the "Digital Shorts" label post-Andy Samberg?) called "Boy Dance Party," in which he and the boys ditched their football game on TV for an all-male rave that included twerking and some raucous dance moves involving the family jewels.
