Hailing from Montreal, self-reflective, R&B artist Myles Lloyd gives us a taste of his latest work with a dark, eye-opening music video for “Running On You.” The single is an introspective look at facing your fears head-on. The single has a tender, yet fierce edge as Lloyd talks of needing strength to deal with being misunderstood, all whilst ensuring his romantic interest is reassured and confident in him and that everything will be ok eventually.

The video shows many sides to the meaning of “Running On You.” The clown-faced character that opens the video lurks throughout in a confident, creepy Joker like manner, giving the viewer a sense of fear and the need to escape. Lloyd throws punches in the ring building up his strength, to then being surrounded by hundreds of screens, implying the overwhelming feeling of facing your fears. Reflective shots of Lloyd in rippling water show him tackling the brunt of his problems, merged with scenes of Lloyd in intimate, slo-mo moments giving us a chance to take in every word sung. The idea of the video shows Lloyd both facing his fears, trying to get peace and finding a sense of introspection in solidarity.

The single is a juicy R&B track, with lyrical guitar melodies running over a bed of soft drums and echoing synths that carry an undeniable haunting taste. The single is totally intimate and a real raw, honest account of Lloyd rising above the pain to be a better person, no matter how scary those internal fears are. Lloyd has plenty lined up for 2021, so keep your eyes peeled, give him a follow and indulge in those gorgeous riffs in “Running On You.”
