Michelle Zauner (aka Japanese Breakfast) is back with new music—and it might not be what fans were expecting.

Taking a bit of a left turn from her somber and personal songwriting of the past, the new single "Be Sweet" is sugary sweet, clearly inspired by '80s pop and bursting with sun rays.

"After spending the last five years writing about grief, I wanted our follow up to be about joy," says Zauner. "For me, a third record should feel bombastic and so I wanted to pull out all the stops for this one. I wrote 'Be Sweet' with Jack Tatum from Wild Nothing a few years ago. I've been holding onto it for so long and am so excited to finally put it out there."

The new track is from Japanese Breakfast's newly announced (and perfectly titled) album Jubilee, which will arrive on June 4 via Dead Oceans.
