Amy Allen in 'What a Time to Be Alive' video

Rising singer-songwriter Amy Allen has shared a new song, but it's also a call to action.

On Friday, she shared her new single "What a Time to Be Alive," which is a collaboration with fellow rising artist Pink Sweat$. Co-written with Taylor Swift and Harry Styles collaborator Tyler Johnson, the track is brimming with hints of early Swift material, calling back to her country-pop days with a delicate earnestness.

But unlike those early Swift years, Allen isn't holding back speaking out about current events. Specifically, the newly released track directly points to the need to address climate change.

“This song is a call to action and a cry for help," she says. "It’s a song about what we're leaving to future generations, asking what we’re doing to ensure a more beautiful, more safe and more sustainable planet.”

For his part, Pink Sweat$ says: "It's always special when a friend asks you to jump on a song, especially one like this. 'What a Time to Be Alive' is a record that a lot of people need to hear right now. We seem to have forgotten that the best version of yourself is a product of how you elevate those around you, and I'm grateful to be able to stand by that message alongside a true friend.”
