After teasing new music coming on Valentine's Day, Sam Smith has delivered a brand new single.

"To Die For" arrived Friday, the first single and the track off the singer's upcoming album, which will be released May 1 via Capitol Records. The song, which samples audio from the 2001 cult film Donnie Darko, is accompanies by a video directed by Grant Singer.

"Releasing this song is going to be a wild one," says Smith. "I feel like it’s from one of the deepest parts of me. I wrote this with Jimmy Napes and Stargate in L.A. during a time of self-discovery and heartbreak. This is for all the lonely hearts out there on another Valentine’s Day."

The newly released video clip centers largely on a the outside view of a wig shop in Los Angeles. Surrounded by mannequin heads with beautiful locks of hair, a wigless version which looks like Smith sings the song's lyrics. People pass by with loved ones, kissing and not noticing the singing mannequin, even as the other heads in the window vanish.
