After releasing his hypnotic new single "Cruel Times" last month, Ryan Egan is now sharing a video for the track which he wrote and produced with the help of collaborator Max Harwood, who's previously worked with Lewis Del Mar.

The new clip is premiering today on Variance. And according to Egan, it was a "spontaneous collaboration" between himself and Yong Chen, a visual artist from China he met in New York City only four weeks ago.

"We jumped right into shooting the video, myself shooting ambient night footage and Yong collecting various media images as well as my performance bits," he says of the video. "The three-part vocal concept is meant to emphasize the different characters I performed as in the song, which may not be fully recognizable to the listener but it's something I'm currently developing. The video aims to show a world in chaos—the collective 'Cruel Times' that we are facing as a global society forced to endure climate disaster and fascism reentering political life."
