London duo Freddie Clough and Jonny Woodley (aka San Scout) is heading into the weekend with a brand new single.

"Sideways" arrived Friday and it's accompanied by a video directed by Joshua Tarn. The moody pop offering is slightly reminiscent of The 1975's earlier material while giving fans a glimpse into their unique headspace.

According to the duo, the song "started out as an account of a night that turned bad. Some sort of dark pop ode to the futility of modern relationships—driven by warm synths and ripping guitars."

The new song's release follows San Scout's launch last year of their virtual reality site The Pharmacy, an interactive world which will house their upcoming releases with the concept of music as a prescription drug.
