Singer-songwriter Deelo and producer-director Julian Strangelove (aka Garçons) are back with new music.
The Ottawa duo returned this week with a brand new jam called "Pedigree." The infectious cut follows the Variance favorites' Body Language EP last year and it serves as the first preview of their upcoming sophomore EP, which is expected Aug. 28. The song was inspired by Deelo's background as an immigrant who grew up in Nigeria and his affinity for Afrobeat music pioneer and human rights activist Fela Kuti.
"His music constantly played in my house, on the TV and everywhere on the radio," says Deelo says of Kuti. "It runs in his blood, hence the name 'Pedigree.'"
