There might be a lot of new music on this Friday, but benny mayne's new one deserves your attention.

The Toronto artist today released his somber new track "ugly," which arrived with an accompanying video. In the clip, it seems he is sounding off on a toxic relationship with an ex, but the deeper he gets into the song, it's an internal fight he's now having. 

“This song starts off with me realizing how much this toxic relationship affected me more than I understood, and how for so many years I internalized my previous mistakes allowing them to affect my ability to love anyone else, including myself,” says mayne. “The second verse seems like I’m talking to my ex but, in reality, I’m fighting with my ego. It’s me dealing with my insecurities of her not loving me anymore and realizing my bullshit.”

"ugly" follows mayne's previous releases such as "bounce" and "strangers," the latter of which premiered on Variance back in November.
