Mark Aug. 25 on the calendar, because Taylor Swift is expected to release a new single this Friday.

Variety first reported the singer will release new music, citing multiple sources. The publication noted she could release a full album, but a proper first single is much more likely.

The news follows ongoing reports Swift will be debuting either a live performance or music video during this Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. Interestingly, the VMAs are being hosted by Katy Perry, with whom Swift has been in a years-long feud.

As we previously mentioned, Swift caused a stir last week when she wiped most of her social media accounts. On Monday, she shared a pair of videos of a snake, giving fans more reason to speculate about her looming sixth album.

We reached out to a rep for Swift, who was unavailable for comment. A separate source declined to comment.
