I love that the song starts out so raw and then builds into this big, raucous anthem. Did you know when you started that it would become a fully fleshed out song? Do you ever usually know?

Yeah, that one took shape in a matter of minutes really. I think sometimes you get a really clear idea and you can just follow where it takes you!

I don’t really reflect on if something is gonna get finished or not. Some songs take 30 minutes from start to finish and some take a year before the core idea is fully realized.

You mentioned the phrase 'it is what it is' and how older generations say it to avoid talking about serious topics. How can we change that?

I think our generation has more tools in our belts when it comes to putting your feelings into words and communicating with one another. I don’t think we should shy away from hard conversations with our parents and grandparents, but there is a certain level of acceptance needed, seeing as we come from very different times.

There is definitely a generational divide on mental health. Do you see younger generations hopefully avoiding some of the pitfalls of previous ones because they're willing to be more vulnerable or raise their voice about certain issues?

Definitely!!

This song clearly sounds like it was built for a live setting. How does it feel to be back on the road? And with Alvvays this summer?

We love touring so much!! It is the most fun it's ever been and it just gets better and better. It is definitely a different thing playing in front of a crowd of thousands.

What can we expect next?

More new music in the upcoming months, more tours, more of everything!
