After a number of teasers, Thirty Seconds to Mars on Tuesday released their new single "Walk on Water."
Marking their first song in four years, the lyric video is comprised of fan-submitted footage from July 4, 2017, offering a glimpse of the United States, including Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. The band also utilized their own crews to compile additional footage, all of which will be part of a documentary accompanying the band's new album, which they confirmed today is on the way but does not yet have a title or release date.
"'Walk on Water' is a song for all of us," Jared Leto said about the new track. "It's a song about freedom, about persistence, about change and about fighting for what you believe in. It is a call to arms but also full of all the optimism and hope that is such an integral part of the American Dream."
Thirty Seconds to Mars will be performing at this Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, where they will debut the new song live. The track will also be included in ESPN's college football programming this season.
The band's last album, LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS, was released back in 2013.
"Walk on Water" can be heard in the video below.
