Meet New York’s acclaimed Jazz/R&B artist Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez. Both strong and gentle, her new single “40 Days” explores the toxic and empowering sense that comes with letting go. The gorgeous, soothing track embodies the pain and release of detaching from a once deep connection.

Drenched in an angelic choir of togetherness the single feels warm and comforting in its pain. The track starts off in a minimal approach with intimate production slowly followed by Raina’s rich vocal tone. Her lyrics embody both the good and bad things that come from moving on. Her honesty is admirable. Slow-paced, the song is in no rush and this is the most beautiful part about it. There is a definite sense of peace and release which comes across in the energy of the track, giving you a subconscious nod to just relax.

“40 Days” closely follows the release of the powerful "Better For You" which saw the songwriter making a statement both sonically and thematically. With an upcoming album set to drop in May, under the name IF THEY’RE MINE, we already know we're in for a treat!
