Earlier this year, Norwegian rapper Eivind Øygarden (aka Ivan Ave) dropped his single "Triple Double Love," and it was clear he was in his zone with his new material. Now, he's released his new album Double Goodbyes, which only further proves he's found his sweet spot.

The new record follows his 2017 project Every Eye, but he's taking a notably different path this time around. As we previously mentioned, he's diverted away from his past sample-heavy material to producing the majority of the record himself, the result of starting "from scratch" in his personal life and rebuilding, with his music being "part of the healing process."

As with some of the previously shared singles, the record as a whole is very '90s rap-inspired with a jazz-soul core, with moments of humor and playfulness mixed in with very earnest, revealing material reflective of his personal struggles.

"Double Goodbyes is a product of just making music that moved me, in a phase of my life where I was building from scratch emotionally," he says. "I found healing in producing and singing these songs, without necessarily putting my usual rappety-rap hat on. But as the album title suggests, a lot of times we find ourselves bumping into the exact things, people and habits that we thought we had left behind."
