It might feel like winter outside, but New York outfit Loose Buttons is here with a new single which is deceptively summery.

The new song "Something Better," which is the title track off their upcoming debut album, arrived Wednesday and is getting a first listen on Variance, and it's only the second preview of the four-piece's forthcoming record, which is out on Feb. 7.

"It’s really about the ultimate goal of creating a life I can be proud of while learning to cope with those pesky, looming doubts," says singer Eric Nizgretsky of the new track. "Over the years, I’ve been forced to take a look back at my parents’ failed marriage, among other things, and I guess my fear is that the relationships I hold dear in my life will inevitably end in similar ways. It’s those potential setbacks and uncertainties that’ve served as motivation to channel my fears into something positive, or rather, 'something better.'"

Made up of Nizgretsky alongside Zack Kantor, Manny Silverstein and Adam Holtzberg, Loose Buttons have previously self-released two EPs, but "Something Better" seems to offer proof the album may likely be their standout release, as the group meshes playful garage rock with truly earnest lyrics about some deeply personal struggles.

Hear "Something Better" below and stay tuned for the full album in February.
