After a string of sexy jams in 2018, Toronto alt-pop duo The Darcys are starting the new month with a tender new single called "Hurt."

The emotional cut finds the Variance favorites venturing into pop-ballad territory as they strip back some layers and perhaps allow themselves to be more vulnerable.

"'Hurt' is a song about knowing heartbreak is an inevitability but going for it anyway," says drummer Wes Marskell, who wrote the song alongside singer Jason Couse. "Hindsight may be 20/20, but when you get swept up in a moment it’s easy to make impulsive decisions. The song felt like it was meant for big drum fills and epic production but it's carried by Jason’s powerful vocal performance."

The Darcys plan to continue their evolution into the rest of 2019, with more singles to come ahead of a new album.

For now, hear "Hurt" below.
