Aussie music-maker Callum Meadows McNab (aka MDWS) is back with new music.
The emerging indie singer-producer first surfaced on our radar in 2015 and he has now released a new single called "Wasted." The hazy track, which he wrote and self-produced, arrived Friday after he teased a possible release on social media earlier this month.
"I remember seeing how sad party culture could be, or at least how it could be an escape for people who are hurting inside, maintaining these fake smiles on their faces," says MDWS of the track, which he wrote in 2018 during his last year of college. "Everyone was trying to distract themselves from the upcoming fears of 'what do I do after college is done.' I decided to write this song, ‘Wasted,’ which is this upbeat party song, but when you listen to the lyrics, it’s more about a collective of people smiling on the outside but hurting on the inside."
Calling it an "anti-party party song," he says the song's message is that "it's okay to be yourself and to be comfortable with life passing you by, to enjoy it, the people around you and be fine that some things are out of your control."
