Among the plethora of new music today is a project from Brisbane's Yoste (pronounced like "lost").

The bedroom producer-singer has released his debut try to be okay EP, which has arrived via Akira Records. Fans of James Blake and Vancouver Sleep Clinic may want to check this one out, as the artist is clearly on a similar wavelength.

"The songs are built on and drawn from my concerns and experiences over the past couple of years, not only as a new artist but as a person on the cusp of adulthood," says Yoste of the project, which he calls a "beginning" not only for this moniker but for himself as a musician. "Thinking about it now, I suppose that's why most of the instrumentation is so ethereal, very much trying to capture a sense of nostalgia and childlike wonder."

Beyond the nostalgic vibes, he also admits he was "grappling with an overwhelming fear of mortality, questions of identity, alienation, inadequacy—all the fun stuff."

Hear the EP below and see Yoste on tour this spring supporting the likes of Shallou and Slow Magic.
