Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig says the band's new album is nearing completion, but it still may be some time before fans hear it.
Responding to a fan's tweet on Sunday asking about the long-teased record, Koenig assured them it is "80% done," but he cautioned: "the last 20% is always the hardest."
Koenig said earlier this year the band was focused on recording for much of 2017 with the intention of "trying to finish ASAP." He said in March the album was shaping up to be "more springtime" than the last one, 2013's Modern Vampires of the City.
The new record has been one of Variance's 50 Albums to Watch for in 2017.
