HBO programming president Casey Bloys says he's already read some of the scripts for a planned third installment of True Detective.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday afternoon, Bloys shared positive news for those holding their breath for a new season, in which Oscar winner Mahershala Ali has indeed signed on to star.
"I've read five scripts on the new season and I think they're terrific," Bloys said on Wednesday, offering more optimism than earlier this year when he simply called the franchise "valuable" one. "When we find a director, we'll be a go on that," he added today.
Unfortunately, it wasn't all good news, as he also noted The Night Of is likely on hiatus for a while because a new installment hasn't even been pitched, despite the limited series' big 13 Emmy nominations this year.
But he did offer hope for Deadwood fans, explaining he's read the script for the long-discussed movie. "If we can do a budget that makes sense for us, find a director and get the cast together, we're inclined to do it," he said, conceding they will first have to "get over those hurdles."
