J. Cole Plans to Turn Childhood Home into Rent-Free 'Haven' for Single Mothers

Following the release of last month's stunner of an album 2014 Forest Hills Drive, it seems J. Cole isn't quite done with that address, which represents his old childhood home.

The rapper previously lived in the North Carolina house as a child with his mother until she lost the home. As his career progressed, he eventually repurchased the house and most recently held album listening parties there for fans. But he clearly has a much bigger plan for the dwelling.

Cole said in a new interview with The Combat Jack Show that he intends to open it up to struggling single mothers rent-free so they can provide a "haven for [their] families."

Describing the plan as a work in progress, he explained: "Every two years, a new family will come in. They'll live rent-free. The idea is that it's a single mother with multiple kids, and she's coming from a place where all her kids [are] sharing a room. She gets to come here rent-free. I want her kids to feel how I felt when we got to the house."
