Netflix seems to be enjoying the surprise release date strategy.
The streaming platform on Tuesday confirmed Chris Rock's Tamborine, his first stand-up special in 10 years, will be released tomorrow (Feb. 14)—yes, Valentine's Day. It was directed by Bo Burnham.
Filmed at New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music, it sees Rock covering a number of topics from his tour last year, which was his first in nearly a decade. Tamborine is the comedian's first of two specials he has slated with Netflix, which reportedly nabbed him with a $40 million deal.
Rock previously won four Emmy Awards for his Chris Rock Show and stand-up specials, all on HBO.
