Actor Paul Walker was involved in a car accident on Saturday (Nov. 30), which Los Angeles Police have confirmed led to two fatalities.
According to TMZ, the actor was one of the two killed. He was 40. The website reported that Walker was in a Porsche when an unidentified driver lost control and the vehicle hit a tree, immediately bursting into flames.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has confirmed the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 28300 block of Rye Canyon Loop in Valencia, Calif.
Walker has appeared in all but one of popular Fast and the Furious movies, and he was in the process of filming the seventh edition of the franchise, which had previously been set for a July 11, 2014 release. His other credits include Varsity Blues, Flags of Our Fathers and Takers.
Walker first appeared on Highway to Heaven in 1985, taking on roles on Who's the Boss? and Touched by an Angel before launching into his film career. He is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.
Walker was in town to support a planned Philippines typhoon relief effort.
His new film centered on Hurricane Katrina, Hours, is due in theaters on Dec. 13.
