Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead in Apartment at 46

Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York apartment early Sunday, law enforcement officials told the Wall Street Journal.

He was 46. ABC News is reporting that it has confirmed news of his death.

At press time, it was being reported that it may have been a potential overdose. CNN sources report the actor was found with a syringe in his arm.

Hoffman had entered rehab for drug addiction in the past before getting clean, according to past interviews. He had spent 10 days last May in a detox facility for treatment regarding his use of prescription drugs and heroin.

The actor was celebrated for his performances in films such as The Master, Doubt, Charlie Wilson's War and Capote, the latter of which won him an Oscar for Best Actor in 2005.

Hoffman had three children with his longtime partner Mimi O'Donnell; a son, 10; and two daughters, ages 7 and 5.
