'Parks & Recreation,' 'Parenthood' Launching Web Series During Olympics Hiatus

Despite multi-million ratings gains for NBC during the Sochi Olympics, the network is acknowledging that some of its regular shows can't afford to let viewers stray for too long before they return from hiatus later this month.

To hold fans over during the break, the Peacock will launch original Web series for Chicago Fire, Grimm, Parenthood and Parks and Recreation, set to debut on NBC.com, as well as Hulu and YouTube.

According to Variety, Chicago Fire's series of shorts will begin on Tuesday with a four-part digital series titled “I Am a Firefighter," which will center on Monica Raymond’s Dawson character.

Parenthood will launch its Web feature on Thursday with a nod to creator Jason Katims' former show Friday Night Lights in a clip called “Friday Night at the Luncheonette,” featuring appearances by Jesse Plemons and Derek Phillips in their FNL roles alongside Amber (Mae Whitman) and Max (Max Burkholder).

Grimm will debut its series on Friday, while Parks and Recreation's digital counterpart will not premiere until Feb. 20, with Perd Hapley’s (Jay Jackson) political round-table with some of Pawnee's most interesting residents, such as radio shock jocks Crazy Ira and the Douche (Matt Besser and Nick Kroll), Joan Callamezzo (Mo Collins) and Mike Patterson (Seth Morris).

The Olympics run until Feb. 23, with NBC's regular lineup returning the week of Feb. 24.
