For the second week in a row, a singer has earned their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 as Ed Sheeran's x (pronounced "multiply") starts atop the chart.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, the album sold a massive 210,000 copies in its first week. It's the fourth-largest debut of the year and easily Sheeran's best sales week ever.
His debut album, +, debuted at No. 5 in 2012, selling 42,000 in its first week.
Fellow Brit Sam Smith keeps his No. 2 spot for a second week as In the Lonely Hour sold 67,000 in week two.
Rapper G-Eazy also earns his best sales week, with his new album, These Things Happen, starting at No. 3, selling 46,000. The album debuts at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Rap Albums and Independent Albums charts.
Interestingly, Lana Del Rey's Ultraviolence drops to No. 4 from No. 1, with 44,000 sold. That puts the set at 227,000 sold to date, meaning Smith's Hour has already surpassed it in sales at 233,000.
