While Amy Winehouse's life and tragic death have been back in the spotlight due to the upcoming documentary Amy, a posthumous album is now extremely unlikely.
Universal Music U.K. chairman/CEO David Joseph recently confirmed any demos the singer had for a third album have been destroyed. “It was a moral thing," he told Billboard. "Taking a stem or a vocal is not something that would ever happen on my watch. It now can’t happen on anyone else’s.”
Producer Salaam Remi suspects “she probably finished the writing process a few weeks before she passed. As far as I could see, we had 14 songs. Whatever needed to happen, it was right there.”
Joseph's move follows last year's controversial release of Michael Jackson's Xscape album, which arrived five years after his death.
