His debut album was only released in July, but Australia-based artist Callum Meadows, aka MDWS (pronounced "Meadows") has new music to share.
On Thursday, he released his new song "Lena," a tantalizing new cut which finds him exploring new musical territory and it perhaps marks a change in his stylistic direction, as he veers into a more hypnotizing lane of bedroom pop while chronicling a love affair which is at first blissful until the inevitable cracks begin to show.
"I wanted to write something nostalgic and hopeful," says MDWS of the new track, which follows his recent debut Another Year. "The ending is really special to me, mostly because the choir consists of my friends, most of which aren’t even singers."
Long a Variance favorite, MDWS says this new single will likely be part of a larger body of work, although it's not yet clear what kind.
For now, hear "Lena" below.
