Some bands stick with you once you come across them for the first time and have a relatability in their music through thick and thin. Sleater-Kinney has been one of those bands for me since their self-titled debut in 1995, a time when music was beginning to transition its face from just rock into an alternative phase of various subsets and styles.

Originating within the riot grrrl movement and continuing on to the forefront of the indie rock scene, their music has stood for many things throughout the band’s career. Eleven studio albums in nearly 30 years, four of them since returning from a decade-long hiatus, Sleater-Kinney continues to make music the way they want to and raising a new generation of fans along the way.
