LCD Soundsystem's American Dream is now the No. 1 album in America.
According to Nielsen Music, the record moved 85,000 equivalent album units in its first week, the tracking week ending on Sept. 7. That gives the James Murphy-led outfit their first Billboard 200 chart-topper after their last album, 2010's This Is Happening, debuted and peaked at No. 10.
The new album's chart debut is believed to have been boosted by the band's album-tour bundle, following in the footsteps of the likes of Katy Perry and Arcade Fire, who also benefited from attaching a copy of their album to concert tickets.
As we previously mentioned, LCD Soundsystem is currently in Europe kicking off the tour in support of the new album. The upcoming dates can be seen here.
