Following Beyoncé's iTunes exclusive release for new surprise album, Amazon is following Target and also refusing to carry the set.

According to the singer's label and the website itself, the world's largest online retailer has apparently opted not to stock the physical version of the LP, as Billboard reports.

As we previously reported, Target revealed earlier this week that it would not carry Beyoncé's new self-titled set due to iTunes' eight-day head start.

Amazon is slated to carry the MP3 version of Beyoncé, but at press time, the album wasn't featured anywhere on the site's front page or digital music homepage. The physical album will reportedly be available through third-party outlets but not directly from Amazon itself.

Sources additionally told Billboard on Friday that because of the iTunes exclusive, tensions are running increasingly high between Amazon and Sony/Columbia, with the former reportedly "considering further reprisals" against the label in the future.

To be fair, the first 1-2 weeks of an album release are generally the highest. And as physical CD sales continue to decline, being denied access for the first week of such a high-profile record is easily a disadvantage.

Nonetheless, Walmart announced this week that it is "happy to be able to carry her album and support all physical music." And perhaps acknowledging the position she put brick-and-mortar stores in, Beyoncé dropped by a Walmart store in the Boston area (confirmed on her website) and reportedly purchased $50 gift cards for those in the store. One Instagram user captured the moment as Queen Bey shopped around the store (seen below).

Updated: According to Us Weekly, Beyoncé handed out a total of 750 gift cards ($37,500 worth) tucked inside envelopes that read, "Happy Holidays from Beyoncé."
