As they have been releasing a string of new music this year, St. Lucia continues to tease a new album. And tease is exactly what they're doing.
Speaking with Variance at Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, the band's Jean-Philip Grobler and Patricia Beranek wouldn't "confirm nor deny" that a new album, the followup to 2022's Utopia, is indeed on the way, while noting they are in a new era of letting singles stand on their own for a while.
Pointing out how much of the new music was born out of the uncertainty and fear of the pandemic, they said this new music is very much a reminder of finding the hope even in challenging times.
"We're just at the start of a lot of stuff coming out," said Grobler. "It's a new chapter for us...There's strings all over it," he said of the album, which draws an influence in sound from the 1970s.
