Songwriter and musician Luke Dick took some time to chat with Variance during SXSW.

He was in the middle of a whirlwind week, playing several shows with his band Republican Hair as well as premiering his new Red Dog documentary. The band is also working on a new album.

Dick is no stranger to the music industry, having written songs for a number of mainstay country artists, including Kacey Musgraves, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert and Kip Moore.

He talked with us about the new music as well as how important it was to have his mom on hand this week to attend the documentary premiere. She is a focal point of the doc and is featured in it.
