This new genre called emo-rap has been steadily on the rise and it seems like Chicago rapper Juice WRLD came out of nowhere.
I first heard of him in late April when the very popular video director Cole Bennett tweeted a new video he did for Juice WRLD’s "All Girls Are the Same." After watching the visuals I was hooked on his sound and started to research him more. His SoundCloud is filled with singles he’s put out along with a mixtape titled 999.
He released his first studio album Goodbye & Good Riddance at the end of May and it’s filled with trap like beats, melodic autotune and deep lyrics that are going to make you think back to that toxic ex and how glad you’re not with them anymore.
Juice WRLD recently teased fans with a video of himself and Ski Mask the Slump God freestyling over a beat playing on Juice’s phone. Ski Mask has since confirmed a joint project will be released.
Some notable songs from Goodbye & Good Riddance are “Candles,” “Used To,” and “Hurt Me.” Hear the album below.
