After earlier this month releasing her addictive new single "Monstruous," Zurich-based singer Evelinn Trouble has now shared a set of accompanying visuals for the track.

The new video arrived Thursday, premiering on Variance. It sees the rising artist lying in a pool of water before wielding a baseball bat, which ultimately comes in contact with a piñata. There's glitter and confetti and all the makings of a party, but it's somehow more eerie than celebratory.

"I knew I wouldn’t survive another winter in Berlin so I escaped to Costa Rica with a friend," the singer says of the new video. "In the course of the stay, we started to work on videos for the songs of the EP, kind of location scouting and shooting on the go ... At night we climbed into the neighbour's pool ... At some point we had to stop shooting because a giant boa constrictor was in the tree. Another challenge was the heart-shaped pinata; they were all sold out because of Valentine’s Day, so we made one ourselves. I think that was almost as fun as smashing it."

Evelinn Trouble, who points to the likes of Patti Smith and Thom Yorke as her major influences, is planning to release her Hope Music EP in the coming months, with "Monstruous" serving as a preview.
